How EMS Can Help Low Back Pain!
The Journal of Pain Research conducted a 12-week EMS study on thirty patients, 40-70 years old, suffering from low back pain. The patients were randomly assigned into 2 groups, 15 patients per group. The EMS group performed one EMS session per week and the control group (CG) maintained their current lifestyle. To gauge all the patient’s pain levels they were instructed to keep a pain diary.
The results showed that the EMS group experienced a significant decrease in low back pain and a significant improvement in low back strength. No significant change was found in the control group.
The research study concluded that EMS is a safe and efficient way to strengthen the lower back and reduce low back pain. EMS is also a joint friendly option for people unable or unmotivated to exercise.
